Like any other company, Amazon has rules and policies that need to be followed. These rules need to be respected or there is the risk of being suspended or removed as a seller.

Know your product

Knowing your product will help you sell to others, but better yet, know what your competitors are offering too. This will help you identify your niche. A product you love but has no viable market value isn’t going to help you. Do your research about what your customers actually need and want.

Be business prepared

Selling online may seem like a simple thing: have some pictures and set up some posts. It’s not that easy. To be truly successful you need to have a business plan and model. How are you shipping items, do you have proper inventory, when are you checking your sales, are you tracking sales and inquiries? These are just some of the questions that need to be answered in your model.

This is not your 9-5 job

Many people think that selling online for their income means that they can take it easy and not actually have to work. Like starting any other business, you need to be attentive and work hard to maintain your sales and marketing strategies.

Review what is being said about your product

Reviews can make or break a company. The better the reviews the more likely others are going to be drawn to your site. Find time to go through all your reviews and respond to positives and negatives. Having a response will show other potential customers you are willing to interact and work with any concerns.

Make your customers feel special

Word of mouth is still the best way to gain sells even in e-commerce. Take the time to reach out to your customers, send personalized emails, and offer discounts to long time clients. These customers can then become brand ambassadors for you.

Stop second guessing

Replace guesswork with research and planning. Should you jump on a trend (like the doomed fidget spinners) or slowly build up a following for a niche product? Assess your risk tolerance and know your market. Work from a place of professionalism, not guesswork.
