Selling on Amazon Marketplace can be a great full-time job. However, one must be prepared to battle fierce competition! Amazon boasts nearly 10 million sellers worldwide – standing out is a must. Here are five hacks to boost sales and keep those customers coming your way.

1. Make a Business Plan

An e-commerce business is still a business. Just because you are using FBA and don’t have a warehouse, and also do not have a brick-and-mortar store, doesn’t mean your business is any less viable. In fact, any revenue you make must be reported at tax time, and any loans or partners you wish to procure will be wanting to see your long-range plans. A business plan sets the stage for success, gives you realistic timelines for expansion and shows potential investors your commitment.

2. Leverage Apps and Software

There are many apps and programs that tie directly into Amazon for sellers. There is no need to keep track of everything on endless spreadsheets when you can plug and play your data and have it all sync for you. Check out the apps that help with inventory, customer engagement, bookkeeping and logistics so you can work smarter, not harder.

3. Delegate

As your business grows, you will need help. Check out virtual EAs to help manage the administrative side, hire friends and family to package items, buy your labels from a creative label maker. There are many ways you can offload tasks while continuing to grow. Failure to delegate when needed leads to burnout and compromises on quality.

4. Check those reviews

Reviews drive sales. It is inevitable that some negative reviews will happen. Keep an eye on the reviews and thank those that leave positive ones. Follow up in a professional manner with those that leave negative ones. Be mindful of your responses, as how you interact online is how customers will view your store.

5. Run the right campaigns

Newsletters, PPC, Google Ads – there is no shortage of ways to advertise and connect with potential customers. You’ll need to engage on and off the Amazon platform. Take the time to look into the pros and cons of each strategy, and the costs. PPC, for example, can get very pricey if you get a lot of clicks – and clicks don’t always translate to sales. Depending on your audience and product, there is a campaign best suited for your store. Save time and money by selecting the best one.

Carlos Alvarez

Alvarez sums up his mission to help online sellers with a quote he heard early on in his career. New sellers constantly compare their Chapter 1 to another seller’s Chapter 20. They see what other veteran sellers are doing and they judge their success and failures by this benchmark. His goal is to show sellers a realistic path to success, and how they can enjoy every chapter of their own, unique journey.
